He Carried Every Person, Every Burden, the Whole World

We just heard something very important in the Letter to the Hebrews. Not just that Jesus suffered… but how He suffered.

“He offered prayers and supplications with loud cries and tears…”

That means this is real. This is personal.

He knows what it is to feel overwhelmed. He knows what it is to beg the Father. He knows what it is to carry something that weighs on the heart.

Sometimes we can think of God as distant—as if He doesn’t understand what we’re going through. But today tells us the opposite.

We do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses. He knows.

He knows grief. He knows fear. He knows suffering. He knows what it is to entrust Himself to the Father when everything feels uncertain.

And because of that, we are told to approach the throne of grace with confidence. Not because we are strong—but because He is merciful.

In just a moment, we will pray the Solemn Intercessions.

And notice what the Church worldwide does today. We don’t pray only for ourselves. We pray for the whole world: for the Church, for the Pope, for those who do not believe, for those who suffer, for those in need.

Why?

Because on the Cross, He carried every person… every burden… the whole world.

So today, when we pray, we bring everything to Him. Every burden. Every person. Every wound. Because He knows.

And then we will come forward to venerate the Cross. Not just to look at it—but to approach it, to touch it, to kiss it.

Because that Cross is where He loved us to the end.

So when you come forward today, don’t just see the Cross. Bring something with you. Bring your suffering. Bring your worries. Bring the people you’re praying for—and place it there.

Because the One who hangs on that Cross knows… and He is the source of our salvation.
