Thursday of the Second week in Ordinary Time

Today’s readings remind us of the power of Jesus as our High Priest and the significance of His ministry in our lives.

In the Letter to the Hebrews, we are reminded that Jesus is able to save completely those who come to God through Him because He always lives to intercede for them. This passage emphasizes the eternal and unchanging nature of Jesus’ priesthood, contrasting it with the temporary and imperfect priesthood of the Old Testament. Jesus, as our High Priest, bridges the gap between us and God, offering us forgiveness, mercy, and grace.

In the Gospel of Mark, we see the crowds flocking to Jesus for healing and deliverance. Despite His efforts to keep His ministry quiet, Jesus’ reputation spread far and wide. People came from all around to seek His healing touch and listen to His teachings. They recognized Him as someone with authority and power, who could bring about miracles and change lives.

As we reflect on these readings, let us remember that Jesus continues to intercede for us today. He is always present, ready to offer us His love and mercy. Just as the crowds sought out Jesus for healing and deliverance, we too can come to Him with our needs, knowing that He is always willing to help.

Let us take comfort in the fact that Jesus is our High Priest, who understands our struggles and is able to empathize with our weaknesses. Let us approach Him with trust and confidence, knowing that He is always ready to offer us forgiveness, healing, and grace.

May we always turn to Jesus in times of need, seeking His guidance and strength. And may we strive to live our lives in a way that reflects His love and mercy to those around us.
