Saturday after Epiphany
January 11, 2025
John the Baptist speaks about the importance of humility and understanding our place in God’s plan. John’s disciples express concern that Jesus and His disciples are baptizing more people than they are, but John responds with a profound humility that points to the ultimate goal of glorifying God.
John knew that his role was to prepare the way for the Messiah, Jesus Christ. He understood that his ministry was not about competition or personal recognition, but about fulfilling the mission that God had given him. John’s words remind us that each of us has a unique role to play in God’s divine plan and that we should embrace it with humility and faith.
In a world that often values success, recognition, and power, John the Baptist’s example is a powerful reminder of the importance of humility and serving God’s will above our own desires. As followers of Christ, we are called to humbly embrace our gifts and talents, using them not for our own glory, but for the greater glory of God.
Let us take this opportunity to reflect on our own lives and consider how we can more fully surrender ourselves to God’s will. May we strive to imitate John the Baptist’s humility and selflessness in all that we do, knowing that true fulfillment comes from serving God with a humble and open heart.
May the words of John the Baptist inspire us to live out our faith with humility, love, and a deep trust in God’s plan for each of us.
