Feast of Epiphany

As we celebrate the feast of the Epiphany, we are reminded of the manifestation of Jesus as the Savior not only to the people of Israel but to all nations. The readings from Isaiah, Ephesians, and Matthew speak of the revelation of God’s glory and the call for all peoples to come and worship Him.

In the first reading from Isaiah 60:1-6, we hear the prophet foretelling the glory of Jerusalem and the gathering of nations to its light. This passage reminds us that the birth of Jesus brings salvation not only to a chosen few but to all who seek Him. Just as the Magi from the East sought and found the Christ child, we too are called to seek Him with open hearts.

The second reading from Ephesians 3:2-3a, 5-6 emphasizes the mystery of Christ’s salvation being made known to the Gentiles, highlighting the universal nature of God’s plan for all people. Through Christ, we are all united as one family in Him, regardless of our backgrounds or origins.

In the Gospel reading from Matthew 2:1-12, we encounter the story of the Magi who followed the star to find the newborn King. Their journey serves as a powerful example of faith and perseverance in seeking Jesus. Despite facing challenges and hardships, they were determined to find and worship Him.

As we reflect on the readings for today, let us remember the significance of the Epiphany in our own lives. Just as the Magi were guided by a star to encounter Jesus, may we be guided by the light of Christ in our journey of faith. Let us be open to His presence and willing to offer Him our gifts of love, adoration, and service.

May this feast of the Epiphany remind us of the universal call to worship and adore Jesus, the Savior of all nations. Let us be like the Magi, who, upon finding the Christ child, offered Him their gifts with hearts full of joy and gratitude. May we too be filled with the light of His presence and share that light with all whom we encounter.

May the message of the Epiphany inspire us to go forth and proclaim the good news of salvation to all the world.
